Enter the certificate number on PSA’s official verification page, then compare the returned details with the card and slab. A matching number is an important check, but it does not authenticate every part of a purchase by itself.
Get a readable certificate number
Ask for a clear photograph of the slab label rather than a typed number alone. Keep the complete number and note the card identity, grade and other label details.
A stock image or obscured label does not let you perform this check on the offered item. If the seller cannot provide sufficient evidence, you do not have to proceed with the purchase.
Open the official lookup independently
Use PSA’s own certificate verification page. Enter the number yourself and compare the record with the seller’s photographs. If the record offers images, use those as additional comparison material.
Do not rely only on a screenshot of a result sent by someone else. Screenshots can be incomplete, stale or unrelated to the physical item shown in the offer.
Compare more than the grade
Match the set, year, subject, card number and any identifying variant. Examine the slab and label in the actual photographs. A record that describes a different parallel or card is a discrepancy even if the numerical grade matches.
If something does not agree, stop and contact the seller or PSA for clarification. This process supports a purchase decision; it is not a substitute for professional examination where authenticity remains uncertain.
Keep the purchase evidence together
Save the listing, relevant photographs and your correspondence before buying. Confirm what item is supplied and the purchase policy applicable to that transaction. For expensive cards, provenance and seller evidence deserve the same attention as the grade.
The product example below is a way to inspect a real PSA-labelled catalogue entry. Its appearance here is not a claim that we completed a physical slab examination for this article.

Frequently asked questions
Where should I verify a PSA certificate?
Use PSA’s official certificate verification page and enter the full number yourself.
Does a matching certificate number guarantee the slab in front of me is genuine?
Do not treat the number as a complete authentication on its own. Compare the physical item, label, record and supporting evidence.
What should I do if the record and listing disagree?
Pause the purchase and ask the seller or PSA to resolve the discrepancy before paying.
